On starting this book, when I realized what Jo Clayton was attempting to do, I will not lie I was apprehensive as where she was taking the plot was one of my least favourite tropes. However, I am glad to say that I was proven wrong and she executed said trope masterfully. All of the plotlines while at some points seamed meandering but came together beautifully at the end. The ending was truly beautiful and melancholic. Serroi and Hern were truly great together and for every moments of there I was glued to the page. Serroi especially was the highlight of this series and one of the best protagonists I have ever read about with having a great character arc and resolution.
