Good book, never expected it to end the way it did.

This is one of those books that makes me want to get off the couch and do something to better myself. I really enjoyed the story and throughout wondered what I would do if I were in June's shoes. This was a great, quick read - even when I got a little teary eyed in the end. Grab a hankie, settle in, and ponder what would be the top 20 things you would like to do before you die.

One star purely because of the ending. Ending up with no one would've been better than settling for the gross, sleazy rattail guy. It felt completely wrong and soured my opinion of the entire book. Ick.

I read this a few years ago and it stuck with me until I recently picked it up once more. Like anything, it wasn't quite as great as I'd hyped up the memory of it to be, but it was still a good book.

This one took a little bit to get into, but I got hooked! June is such a relatable character. I love how much she grows in this story and how much more free she is by the end. She learned about herself while completing the birthday list. I am angry at how Troy treated her, but understand. The last 20 pages threw all the surprises at me!

I enjoyed this book for the most part. I liked the dialogue and June as a character. She felt realistic and I appreciated that. Didn't like the ending. But overall, I liked it. Super quick read.

At its best, the chick lit genre addresses issues that are central to women's lives: body image, negotiations with traditional gender expectations at work and at home, and true friendship. At its worst, though, the genre reinforces stereotypes, depicts marriage and family as the only endgame for all women, and isolates women's lives from economic, cultural, and political contexts. My problems with this book begin there. Woefully predictable and with zero concern for the deeper issues it brushes up against (teen pregnancy, sexual harassment, and adoption), this is chick lit at absolute rock-bottom. It gets one star only because someone had the wherewithal to finish writing it. Don't read it.

I didn't feel that the author really developed the characters fully in this book. I thought that there were too many different characters to keep track of and would have been better if there were fewer characters that were better developed and the reader felt they knew better. I frequently questioned who each of the characters were after putting the book down. I liked the premise of the book and the idea behind the list. Overall, this book was good. It is not a book I would say needs to be on your top books to read, though.

This one has been on my TBR list for a while and it was one I couldn't remember why I added it. Since it was available from the library I decided to give it a go and I am glad I did.

By reading the blub on the back of the book I was pretty sure this would be a tear jerker (not that that is difficult for me) but its not. There are some bittersweet moments, but it was a surprisingly uplifting book.

Loved it!
