As a big fan of the Invisible Library series, I devoured this book. I tend to read these so quickly that I’m left in utter shock and despair when they’re over.

This latest book was no exception. With a peace conference looming and the relationship between the Fae and Dragons precarious due to a murder, we launch right into the drama and action with Irene Winters and her companions Vale, Kai, Silver, and addition Ma Dun.

As always, the mystery is compelling and has twists and turns along the way. Incredibly well written and engaging, it’s a fast paced book with little to no downtime for us or the characters.

The only thing that disappointed me about this book is the continued lack of relationship building with Kai and Irene. We are on book five and it feels like we still don’t really know what’s going on since we are never shown any intimate scenes between them and they never talk about their relationship. I feel like at this far along in the series we should have something to show.

Irene is in the middle of trying to broker a peace between dragons & fae...but someone has targeted the conference and is doing all they can to disrupt it, including murder en masse.
Between Librarians with divided loyalties, powerful fae with agenda and dragons not completely happy with peace...Irene has a difficult path to tread.
Gripping, high-stakes & atmospheric, this series just gets better with every book!

I’ve really enjoyed the other Invisible Library books, but this one missed the mark for me. The first half of the book showed Irene, the main character, hopping from one political conversation to another—hardly any of the action I’ve come to expect from these novels. And the final battle scene was so involved that the pacing took a serious hit. I’ll admit, I skimmed the climactic scenes of the book because they were taking far too long to get through. Finally, perhaps my biggest gripe is that something I’ve been waiting for through the whole series finally happened, and it happened BETWEEN two chapters. No juicy details, none of the relief I felt like I was due as a loyal reader. You feel me?

Another fantastic book in the Invisible Library series. I did find all the reliances on the Language to fix everything a little annoying- hey, this is a problem, guess I'll use the Language on it and woo! Fixed!- but it definitely sends the series in an interesting direction going forward.

i'm so done with this.
