This book is so many things, all of them wonderful. It's part First Nations fantasy, part coming of age, partly about struggling with inner demons (and in this case also outer demons!) and part struggles with family. I was immediately drawn back into Jared's world and his daily struggles. You just really feel for him and want him to have some good things in his life for once. As he starts to get them, other parts of his life unravel faster and faster and my heart breaks for him. I love that Robinson made this into a series and I'm so excited to read the next book and really, everything she's ever written. Her prose is so touching and beautiful. There are times when I want to capture a sentence and hold on to it and admire the beauty of her words like snuggling under a warm blanket in winter.

This one is for sure better than the first! She gets more into the lore and magic, which I have been lovinggggg. I am so excited to read the 3rd after everything that happened in this one. The mark of a good series is when you got out to buy the next book immediately, and that is exactly what I did. Eden Robinson is a talent

The second installment in the Trickster trilogy and it is great! I loved the introduction of new family members and more magical beings. Robinson's ability to bring light and love to such dark themes is masterful. Well worth the read.

I got a bit wowed by the ending and found it slightly abrupt. Maybe I just didn’t want it to end. Connected with many characters.

I found that it was extremely hard to follow. At the end I was lost trying to figure out what happened in the last 1/3 of the book. I think it has potential but I would have to re-read it for sure.

More supernatural and bizarre than the first but intriguing and engrossing.
