This is the third book of Mona Awad that I've read, and while I'm still a fan of her writing, this one is my least favourite of the three. I think a lot of that is because it felt more grounded than I expect from her (even with the witchcraft), so I had less wtf moments. Nonetheless, I think Awad facilitated a skilful exploration of gendered experiences of healthcare, particularly this idea of performing pain.

This was an absolute delight to read! It's definitely unique! Iconic!!

Sometimes I find myself across these types of books, where they are totally out of my radar. and they always feel different, they are memorable and unique. I may not re-read them but they are mostly appreciated and always so Glad I did pick them up and feel genuinely grateful for the chance to read them.
-----------
ABOUT THE BOOK:

This book is a lot of things together, sometimes it felt like a funny book, sometimes sad and painful and sometimes I had no idea what was going on, At other times I was so sure that this one was about healing body and soul, And how we all deal with it and how we- the healthy ones- treat the sick ppl, we forget that they are the ones that suffer the most. (which is where I felt that I was bad as a human and we should all rethink our actions!!)

through the pages, I was laughing but my heart ached for the MC. The loneliness and desperation were so real that u could taste it in her day-to-day life and thoughts!

There is hilariously funny and there is this one sad hilarious
It's too simple. too real. too raw
It's told like you're listening to that friend who doesn't stop complaining about how miserable he is. and Instead of feeling sorry for him, you think that he is just complaining too much.

So, here it's her miserable life where she is just hurting all the time and no doctor\ therapy\ spa\ friend\ or family are helping or able to so she is always in pain
I feel like anyone can relate to aspects of these emotions in different ways.

on some pages, we can actually relate to her, pity her, Sympathize, or Feel pain for her.
It was really heart-wrenching book. I loved it. it set this book apart from other books! It blends different genres together in the best brilliant way! Genius!❤️‍

✨ The Title/Cover Draw:
I tried to read Bunny Last year and it wasn’t really my thing. When I found this book releasing later this year, I decided to give Mona Awad another chance. Thanks to @simonandschuster and @netgalley for the opportunity to read this.

This one was not quite as punchy and feverish as Awad's other novels, but I still enjoyed it. Definitely recommend starting here if you aren't sure you'll like her more dreamlike and feverish stories.
