I enjoyed the book. I liked the guys and their relationship and the characters around them.

Here's what I can't get over though. Even while I was reading it (this is all on about page 2):
- wife tells him they are divorcing and to go away. MC did not realise before that that his marriage of 24 years was in trouble.
- 3 1/2 weeks later MC says to gay guys he's staying with that he has feelings of attraction to men.
- guys say cool, we should take you to a club....how about tonight?
- they go out that very night the MC came out(yep, 3 1/2 weeks after wife throws him out).
- he has no sexual history with men at all.
-MC hooks up with a dude that night. The story proceeds.....

3 1/2 weeks after being told by wife the marriage of 24 years (almost 25) is over!?

The story would have carried on fine in every other respect if it had been "some months" after his marriage ended. Or "a while" ... But 3 1/2 weeks!? Geez.

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. There's a lot of wisdom here about endings and beginnings, reasons and faults and flaws, and the mess of sorting through it all so it makes sense. That was all good. I subtracted a star because the main characters thoughts are often repetitious, and some of the dialog is, too. This isn't uncommon in real life, but it's annoying in a story, at least to me. Because of it, I'm not entirely sold on the resolution, even though I enjoyed it.
