I liked this one. I do think I might have hoped for more, just because the anticipation for this book. BUT it is a really fun read. Loved the concept, loved the mystery to it. And always love fancy rich people problems in fiction. This is a great summer book.

I liked this a LOT! I have no criticisms at all. This was fun, sharp, fast-paced, engaging, witty, layered, duplicitous… So many things a good novel is. It’s such a joy to read an author who understands quality writing. Because it seems effortless. So structured and clean, without letting the reader see those cogs turning in the background. A light yet immersive read. What I’m impressed with most is just how much is packed into a relatively compact work. The pacing was great. No self-involved filler fleshing out every mundane detail. Chen really used her real estate well, in such smart ways. There is no sacrifice to character development, the depth of interpersonal relationships, the exploration of morality. But there’s also this amazing deadpan delivery of things bordering on preposterous, being sold at face value. As “counterfeit.” Counterfeit situations to tie us all-the-closer to our antihero. So clever! Extremely satisfying read in so many ways. I will be recommending this book for a long time.

This book was a nice departure from what I typically read or listen to. It also had me wanting a luxury handbag lol. This book was good and kept me intrigued the whole time. Didn’t see the plot twist with the main character coming in part 2. Overall I enjoyed this book!

Enjoy the first part of the book and found the fake designer productions in China very interesting, though I didn’t like any of the main characters. Towards the end, the story got a little weird and kind of unbelievable.
