a quick but WILD ride. some of the dialogue in this book manages to get on your nerves in such a specific way. you get little hints here and there that something is wrong and suddenly it all comes together in a horrifying way. the feeling of understanding exactly how dire the situation is before the main character does makes every little decision they make that much more stressful. a classic case of should have killed them when you had the chance.

Extremely predictable without ever being endearing enough to care about the ending. Not even bad enough to be offended by, just... a bit boring and definitely a waste of time to read. The audiobook performance was good though, except for the voice actress having to pretend like her voice was cutting out on a phone call. That was fucking embarassing.

This really pushed some visceral emotional buttons for me. It was probably one of the most uncomfortable stories I've read in a long time. The relationship between the two main characters hit so very close to home as to be anxiety inducing. I haven't yelled (in my head) at fictional characters in a very long while and I found myself doing that throughout. This was so relatable, and despite being so uncomfortable, it was also very, very good.
