This book reminded me of my least favorite movie “My Dinner with Andre” only they’re philosophizing about death the whole time. A guy gets drunk and writes his own obituary. Somehow this is thought provoking?
The morbid wry humor just never hit for me. Nobody talks like that in real life. I found the author’s attempts to be sarcastic, witty, and profound all at once just exhausting. And the main character’s name is Bud? Really? Maybe that’s why he can’t figure out his place in life. This book just wasn’t for me.
