I want to be a Jane Austen girlie so bad but honestly I was quite bored several times reading this, and Wentworth is kinda a dud as far as romantic interests go.

Thrilled to have finally read this Austen, and a wonderful read it was.
Jane Austen's characterisation and societal shade were great, as I've thought the case for every one of her works I've read so far.
I loved the setting, the atmosphere and the overall feel of the novel.
However, it didn't overthrow my favourite work(s) of hers.
As much as I felt for sweet, silent Anne; I can't help but be an Emma Woodhouse and Elizabeth Benneth girl.
Captain Wentworth, in my opinion, is - sorry - somewhat of a dud. The guy waited eight years to visit a woman he still loves so devotedly, and then, when he does decide to re-enter her life, he starts flirting with another lady right in front of his 'ex.' Instead of, I don't know, maybe trying to get reacquainted with her and then maybe gauging for her feelings towards him?
He sure has amazing letter-writing skills (that letter got to me hard), but EQ, never heard of it.
