I read this book while doing my field work. It rained one day and my tent seems weren't sealed properly and the book was soaked. So I continued to take the book with me on my weekend trips to the field. How appropriate it seemed to be reading a book about tomboys as I turned the rain soaked pages by headlamp in my tent.

Some of the stories, I thought, wow, are they talking about me. Others, all i could think was... how can people be so mean...

Some of the stories were repetitive, yet the stories show a diversity of gender experiences.
