Quirky, funny and a feel good story which reminds you of the kindness of people and that anything is possible if you have a plan! Gaun yersel’ Norman.
Not quite 5 star but pretty darned close. If you aren't touched by this story and the wonderful off kilter character you are missing a heart or maybe a soul. May all the Normans in the world find their way.
This one was recommended on Libro.fm for fans of Fredrik Backman and that’s a perfect description. I loved it so much.
Thank you to Penguin Random House SA for gifting me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

An absolutely lovely debut about a single mom, Sadie, and her 12-year-old son Norman, whose best friend Jax has just died. Norman and Jax had a five-year plan to perform their comedy act at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and Norman decides to honor his friend by going to the festival and performing their act by himself. Along the way, he also wants to look for the father he's never known. Sadie and Norman are a heartwarming pair, and the found family they create along their journey is wonderful. This book gave me all the feels and, despite some overly convenient tidiness in the plot as well as some ludicrous over-the-top hijinks, utterly charmed me.
Aandoenlijk en humoristisch. Zijn aandoening vond ik wel naar om over te lezen maar hoort nou eenmaal bij het verhaal.
This book was absolutely an amazing book from the start! I fell in love with Norman a kid with the worst case of psoriasis. His best friend died, but Norman was determined to continue comedy as a way to remember Jax, his best friend. He had a single mother who did all she could for him and was determined to help him reach his goal. This book is about a journey to perform at a comedy event, but also a journey through some soul searching. Julietta hooks the reader with this storyline and connects readers to characters that are so lovable. It is through the ups and downs of life that we are able to connect with the misfortunes of the characters. This is certainly a must read!
A heartbreakingly hilarious romp through Great Britain with Katherine Parkinson as your narrator? Yes please!
This was such a brilliant novel with a cast of characters who had spirit (to say the least!). It explores grief & the loss of a friend so beautifullu. your heart will break and soar for Norman & Sadie.
Highly recommend (especially on audio!)
