There were a few issues I had with this book that I let slide a little bit. Since it's a translation I feel that I can't judge the writing style too harshly. There were definitely times where I noticed the grammar wasn't quite perfect and they chose more complex words for things, but I tried to not let that get in the way. I did feel like there was slightly too many plot twists at the end.

Now we're getting down and dirty, Harry. I liked this one much better!

Taková normální detektivka na proflákaný den. Lepší než Červenka, ale to všeobecné nadšení pořad nechápu.

There's something about Harry Hole - he's not handsome, he's a functioning alcoholic, but he's a good guy. There are two big cases in this book - a bank robbery where the teller was killed and the apparent suicide of a former lover of Harry (Anna). They could be connected - there are certainly people who could have done both. The problem for Harry is that he was at Anna's house just hours before she died. And he's lost his phone. And he's getting mysterious emails from someone who seems to want to frame him. This book was great - so many twists and turns right up to the final chapters.

This has been my least favorite in the series to date. I have also read the snowman (which is I think the very first book I read).

I feel like it was just forwarding the bigger story and I knew about a few of the outcomes which stole away from the suspense mystery feeling that Nesbo crafts so well.

I did really find it humorous that Nesbo pokes fun at his own format of tragic female lead, mystery, murder, plus plus... breaks the fourth wall a little and slides that *wink* moment to the reader
