It was interesting to read a book translated from Arabic and I thought the language was rather beautiful. Unfortunately, it was really hard to grasp the deeper meaning and sometimes even what exactly is going on (even though the plot is rather passive anyway). I wonder if this had worked better for me if I knew more about the historical and political context of Palestine (then again, political events are only ever touched upon in a line or two).
