Louise Penny is my book candy. This particular story was every much as intriguing as the rest. I thought the ending was rushed, and the character motivations weren’t as strong as I’ve come to expect, but the rest of the story elements were solid and enjoyable.
I think just because I find Clara a bit of an annoying character this wasn't my favorite in the series.

Nej, nu har nog Louise Penny själv gått vilse på den långa vägen mot en bra kriminalhistoria ... hoppas bara hon hittar tillbaka igen.
Weakest book of the series for me so far. And as it comes after such a great book (which got a very rare 5* from me), this ends up a disappointment, if I’m honest. Barely a mystery, waffles on and on about where Peter is or might be, and a terrible ending. If I do reread the series when I finish, I think I’ll skip this one.

A "whodunnit" that turns into psychological inner quests for several characters involved and that challenges expectations and breaks several rules of the genre, really a tightrope number without a safety net, but Louise Penny reaches the end without ever threatening to fall. Once again underneath the mystery hides fine psychology, great character work that Penny continues to build up from book to book (in a rather unconventional way, given that mystery writers tend to want to set each novel in a different setting, with different suspects) and sooner or later she surprises you in how cleverly and devilishly she puts it all to good use.
A really unique series, very traditional in some ways, but radically atypical of the genre in others.

Love, love, love, this “cozy mystery” series by Louise Penny. I’ve been listening to most of them, and the narrator is perfect. Very entertaining!
Not one of my favorites in the series. It kind of dragged and not much plot.I still am a big fan and will continue visiting Three Pines.
