This book was interesting. A long while ago I saw it somewhere on the internet and a few things intrigued me about it. First it was published anonymously so we don’t know who the author is and second I saw the first page and the first page is very intriguing. From that I knew it would be a heavy book but it was so interesting and there was this mystery element to this book. Also reviews are all over the place, people either loved or hated it, and so I wanted to give this book a read. Overall I’m very in the middle about it. The main character is deeply disturbed and I saw someone say in a review the book is about what people do to each other and I would say that if you look for it that is a lot of what this book it about. It’s a short book but I did kinda have to force myself to finish it because I just don’t think it was really my type of book so I don’t think I’ll read the second one. I’m so curious if this book is autobiographical in any way and it was interesting at times and funny sometimes when the author broke the fourth wall. An interesting book but glad I finally got to see what it was all about and check it off my tbr.

I didn’t understand the concept that much. It’s a love-or-hate book. You’re either going to feel inspired by it, or confused. The reason why I decided not to finish this book is because it confused me, and bore me. I wasn’t really interested in reading an autobiography of someone who liked mentally hurting girls, and I saw no poetic way of it or meaning in it. I felt weird reading it.

One star :(

It's not that I hated this book, it's just that the idea of an emotional sadist that purposely gets into relationships just to end them sounds SO PROMISING, yet Anonymous didn't really deliver on it. I think I definitely would have enjoyed this book more had it focused mostly on the effects of alcoholism and sadism on his endeavors, and less on him "having a wank" whenever he sees an attractive woman (every 20-50 pages or so). The plot was fairly slow up until the last 10-20% of the book which didn't fit very well with the dry writing, in my opinion. The author could have gone so much more in-depth into the last section of the book to give readers a better payoff for having read up until that point. I can understand why some people like it, as the book is definitely raw and uncensored with an asshole for a first-person narrator, but I just found the way it was written so unlikeable that I couldn't enjoy it.
