3 1/2 raunchy smoking hot stars. I'm pretty sure that Lorelei James is the queen of dirty talk.

I didn't love this as much as the first. There is basically 2 stories in one. And although they go together it was hard to follow, I wish they would of been broke up into two.

What a fantastic read, I actually enjoyed it more than Rough Riders 1. I can't wait to read the rest in the series *swoon*.

Gemma and Cash finally get together!!! Gemma decided that finally, after her husband had been gone for a few years, that she needed real help running her ranch. So she sought out Cash. She knew that he had a thing for her, they had already kissed and made his feelings clear. When she asked him to come be the foreman on her ranch he said only if he got to be with her. She was finally ready to move on.

Turns out Cash had a daughter that was born when he was 16 years old. Maycee was now 22 years old and ready to finally spend some time with his daughter, getting to know her. So she went to stay at the ranch too, in his camper. Carter McKay was spending the summer helping Gemma out while her stayed in her trailer and used her barn as a studio. From the minute he saw Maycee he knew that he had to have her. He had already been having dreams about her before he ever even saw her.
This book goes back and forth between the 2 couples. Not only does it tell you about how each couple progresses their relationships, it also lets you in on how a father and daughter repair a broken relationship and try to form some kind of bond. Its great to see another kind of love besides just the romantic kind. Lots of hot scenes! Lots of love….. and you get a little update in what is happening with Colby and Channing! (I still love me some hot cowboys!)

DID NOT FINISH

DNF at 67%. I just can't with the nasty sex. I like nasty sex. This is like gross. You put spray whipped cream in her vagina and ate it out. You put on a condom with your hands covered in oil paint. You're telling me it didn't get all over the condom? I wouldn't mind nasty sex but I just don't care about the couples either. Ugh.

3.5 stars. It was a nice book but I didn't like the ending. I still don't understand why Carter thought it was a good idea to paint those pictures of Macie for his show and the ending was kind of sudden. The last line of the book was a slightly different version of: and then they rode of in the sunset together.

I was slightly thrown off by this book. I thought it was going to be about Cash and Gemma, but they seemed to be more filler and a way to get Carter and Macie together then anything else. I was a little weirded out by both the love story of the father being told with the love story of the daughter. I'm not sure why that bothered me so much, but it did. I did like the scenes of Cash and Macie getting to know each other, and learning how to be a family together. I didn't really like Carter at all and I'm not sure why Macie liked him either since he was an ass to her the whole book. It was like her self esteem was so bad and she was so use to people hurting her that she just accepted that the man she would be with would treat her like shit too. He only wanted to use her for his art and have sex with her. Even when he tried to talk to her like a "normal" couple he only talked about himself. Oh well, it was still a nice, easy read. I will probably still read the rest of the series and not let Carter ruin it for the rest of them.

Something about this story was disjointed to me. I think part of it was how Carter was written. I understand him getting into his work and losing track of time. I even can see how an artist would get test if people saw their work before they thought it was ready. But there is something he does (with his art and in regards to Macie) toward the end of the book that just didn't seem in character to me.

As for Cash and Gemma, I was looking forward to reading their story. The actual dialogue and trial and tribulations they had were beautiful. The whole thing with Trevor, again, seemed to be out of character and just thrown into the mix. In fact, it seemed out of character for Trevor, too.

So while there were many, many pieces that were great with good writing, there were other pieces that just confused and fell flat. Of course, I'm sure there are plenty of people out here that don't read this series for the story. In that regard you will not be disappointed.

October 2017: I did a reread of this book and added more thoughts in my updated review which can be found here: https://allingoodtimeblog.wordpress.com/2017/10/18/rode-hard-put-up-wet-book-review/

Wonderful love story for 2 separate couples. We even get to hear from Channing and Colt in this one Lots of erotic scenes and just enough drama to keep everything you hanging on the edge of your seat.
