I LOVED this! Soran gave me whiplash the whole time, but like a sucker I’m obsessed. I can’t wait for the 2nd book in this series. This one is a good set up for the world/characters and the cliffhanger hooks you in to committing to book 2! Well written and so easy to get lost in!

I really enjoyed this book. I liked the world building and getting to know the characters. The only reason it’s not a 4 star is because the ending just felt too abrupt.

That being said, I’ll definitely read the second one. I want to see what happens next.

This was an emotional read for sure. So much happened to Jade in a short amount of time. Her entire life was thrown into turmoil in an instant, and she's forced to integrate herself into an entire new world to survive. And of course, the very attractive, broody and elusive vampire doesn't make things any easier on her.

I really liked watching Jade become a part of their team, and how she formed relationships with each of them, especially Soran. He constantly goes back and forth between pushing her away and drawing her in, and it becomes such a game she doesn't realize what's going on until they're in too deep.

Ends on a major cliffhanger, definitely need to get book 2!

I want to start by saying this book layout, is beautiful. The cover, the art I received with it, the chapter designs. It is all very beautiful to look at.

For the actual book, to me it was an easy 5 stars. I see comments about how it’s a slow paced book, but this is also the first in a series. I honestly liked the slow pace. I felt like it put so many more details into the characters, the world, and dialogue.
Again, yes it was a slow burn book, but I also have a feeling the next one won’t be. I think this one was building everything up, the relationships, the world, the plot, etc.

Jade was the first female main character in a fantasy book that I have fully fell in love with. I liked how strong she was, even if absolutely devastating times. I like how she always pushed back up ten times harder. I loved how it was always everyone before herself. The way she held herself, and handled everything was top tier. Her and Soran are obviously going to keep pulling back towards each other, so the back and forth didn’t bother me. I loved it.

Soran, I absolutely loved him. I get why some people dislike him, but for me personally I loved him. I get why he kept pushing her away. I think there is a lot that is going to come out in book two to explain everything. When he was sweet, he was so sweet, and when he was rude or pushing her away, it was full scale. Him and Jade pushed each other and I fell head over heels for that aspect of the book.

Side characters:
Owen, hilarious and charming at all times. I loved his love for Shara.
Shara, she is one powerful witch and such a sweet and loyal character.
Alice reminded me of Amren from ACOTAR in the best ways possible.

The world was built beautifully. All the action scenes had me flipping the pages so fast. The raid scene had my heart racing.

The plot twists? Absolutely.

The only thing that absolutely did not sit well with me? The ending. It left me beyond upset that book two is not out yet
