A review on the back of the book calls it "rich and powerful," and I wholeheartedly agree. This book is a compelling story that effectively draws you in from the start. It was fun and entertaining, and I especially loved the connections to African culture. The story is filled with adventure and mystery, with many surprises throughout the journey. The author masterfully creates a gripping cliffhanger at the end. I can't wait to see what’s in store for the main characters, Koffi and Ekon.

It was a bit of a slow read for me. It wasnanything special and I didn't get the urge to buy thre second book when I finished reading this.

loved the character work, hated the plot

A beautifully written pan-African novel. BOP tells the story of two outcasts from rival groups, lwho team up while hunting a monster, in hopes of changing the fates of their future. While the storytelling was wonderful, the story did contain a few plot holes, as certain obstacles that were encountered, really could have been easily avoided. Overall, this was still a great read: 4/5⭐️s
