Had this checked out on libby and kept reaching for it last. My loan period is almost up, people have holds on it and it's just not catching my attention. Time to return it so someone else can enjoy it
With that ending, this has to be the first in a series. Hopefully a duology. :)
Took me about 100 pages to really absorb how the characters all tied together, but then I couldn’t put the book down. So rich in atmosphere and description- a lovely, action-packed, mystical read. Can’t wait for the second one.

This is a cool African high fantasy adventure that follows two main characters. I thought Koffi and Ekon were well written and liked watching then grow and struggle throughout the book. I think i would have liked them better as friends than as romanti interests, but thats pro s my personal taste. Also the last section of the book really cranks shut up to 11. Defo keen to read the sequel.

Gah! I always love a jungle story, but when that jungle is full of magic and monsters, you can't lose. Between amazing characters and their internal struggles, the story, and the world the author created, the only thing I can really say is that everyone should read this book.
