This book killed me, it really did. I thought it's going to be some phony book but old Holden Caulfield is a helluva guy. It goddamn depressed me, it really did.

Wow. This is a book. Easily adding this to my top 5 faves.

the way he talks abut life is so relatable, I don't know what a want to do with my life and I kind of see it as pointless to work as something for the rest of my life. The way everything is made up by us our whole society and this is what we created, I want to throw away my phone and live in a bushhut. Won't do that though and will most probably still doomscroll today.

I enjoyed the first quarter of the book, I found Holden's observations quite funny. After that I didn't really enjoy the book and it was a drag to get through it. Holden's observations about the world and the people in it continue throughout the book, but his whining gets very hard to listen to after a while. There's no real plot and nothing really happens.

one of the most overrated books of the time I think. the story is not that interesting, I can pick a random movie on Netflix with a much better coming-of-age plot. the characters are annoying but the worst one was Holden Caufield. he reminded me of the angsty guys I knew back in high school who wouldn't shut up.
