This was like getting advice over coffee but it would have been better if there was more workable techniques.
2.5 stars. Blew through the audio in an afternoon. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either. A few practical insights, but mostly a lot of ‘great teachers have superhuman wisdom and patience and know exactly what to do in every situation.’
Simple, fundamental beliefs about being a great teacher. The only thing I wish I got more of was the “how” of some of the points.
If you are looking for encouragement and wisdom about leadership (whether you are leading a classroom, a school, or a business), then I highly recommend this book.
Good, easy book on improving your teaching skills. Focus on people, not systems. Don't punish the whole class for the mistake of one person. Take interest in your pupils lives.
I find education very important, not for the content itself. More for the influence it has on children. A good teacher can make or break interest in a subject. And interest in a subject far surpasses intelligence.

Oof. Frustrating book for a frustrating PD. I wish I had the author's confidence to make grand, sweeping statements and rarely ever back them up with anything. This lacks any nuance that's necessary to understand teaching and works on a binary of "great teacher" or "poor teacher". Overly simplistic and occasionally condescending.
