I listened to the audio book and loved it! This is the first 5 star review that I've given to an audio book and I couldn't help myself with this one. I couldn't wait to get into my car everyday to listen to this story. It was absolutely gripping. I had heard some mixed reports about this book, but for me, it absolutely hit the mark. I loved the change of point of view from the 3 narrators and the pacing of the book was perfect. There were no major twists and turns in the story, only a few "red herrings", but I still loved this one! Highly recommend.
dark mysterious medium-paced

I wouldn't say that this is the next Gone Girl or The Girl on the Train. Wasn't very suspenseful or mysterious. I kept hoping that something would happen.

A solid debut. This book started out very promising to me, but somewhere in the middle it fell slightly flat. However, I wanted to keep reading and found at times that I couldn't put it down. Read this if you liked "The Girl on the Train" ... or even if you didn't, because it's a little different. I also found myself thinking of "Rebecca," a classic favorite of mine, as I was reading this.

A copy of this book was sent as an ARC/First Reads from the publisher. I picked this up this morning while sitting down to a cup of tea thinking I could get a couple chapters in before I tackled the rest of my to-do list on my day off. I just finished it now and my to-do list wasn't touched. I don't think it's worth 4 stars, yet I couldn't put it down. It wasn't spectacular, but I was engrossed. I think I was partially hooked because it touched on every parent's nightmares and I just couldn't wrap my head around Jean's character. I had to know her "part" in it all. Overall, it was a good way to pass a snowy day... and it was a nice switch from my usually fluffy romances. Not quite a thriller, but well-written and easy to read.

A good audio read. Well done and kept me interested.

Page-turner. I think people who liked Gone Girl or The Girl on the Train would probably give this 4 or 5 stars. I'm giving it three because I thought it was solid, but I don't want to confuse it with great literature.

On the one hand, I could not put this down. On the other hand, ehhh.

Well-paced, trendy thriller with some genuinely good ideas, slightly let down by clunky narration and predictable dialogue.

The perspective jumps between the widow, the husband, the main detective, and a reporter as well as from past to present in the is story of a child abduction. I was disappointed the widow didn't play a more nefarious role as the set-up implied and the resolution was cliched and anticlimactic.
