Ingegnosa la vicenda e come "spiega" certe evidenti incongruenze, la prosa è stata gradevole anche se viziata da sporadiche esternazioni buoniste.

Weird but kind of awesome. Baum's historical tone is oddly out of place in whole sections of the book.

I'd recommend this book, but I think I'd recommend the Rankin and Bass clay-mation TV special from 1985.

If you loved the Rankin-Bass stop-motion special, then you'll love this book it's based on. It's a different take on the origins of Santa Claus, before it became popular to do so. It's just a fun, light-hearted and cozy story to read during the Christmas season with some really nice messages to spread out.

Answered many questions I had about Santa lore including the following:

- Was Santa always magical? Or was he born that way?
- If Santa is immortal, why does he have the appearance of an old man?
- Who are Santa’s parents?

Wonderfully illustrated and told like a series of fairy tales, it’s a great Christmas-time read.

A gorgeously illustrated version of Baum's story. This is a unique take on the story of Santa Claus, starting with him as an abandoned orphan adopted by a wood-nymph. A true fairy tale, it details how Claus came to love helping children be happy by making toys. Definitely not your standard Christmas story, but a magical fairy tale that captures so much of the magic of Christmas.

What a sweet tale about the origins of Santa Claus!

I found this to be an adorable, whimsical telling of how Santa Claus came to be. It would be a fun Christmas read for children of all ages. Young ones would obviously need to be read to, but I think they would enjoy it!

Perfectly joyous and imaginative, L Frank Baum once again masters imagination and wonder and presents it in such a 'matter of fact' tone that it blends in seamlessly between the reader's ears. High fantasy and Christmas tradition go hand in hand in this truly underrated holiday classic.

Frank Baum has an imagination on overdrive. I just couldn’t connect with it. It might have been the narrator I was listening to but it didn’t grab me.
