Mariana Zapata does it again! Wait for It is the kind of book that sneaks up on you, tugs at your heart, and refuses to let go. Diana Casillas is a protagonist you feel in your bones—strong, independent, and flawed in the best way. Her journey isn’t just about romance, but about resilience, healing, and the beauty of found family.
The slow-burn romance? Utter perfection. Dallas is the kind of quiet, steady presence that makes your heart ache in the best way. Zapata masterfully builds their connection, letting every glance, every conversation, every small moment matter. It’s the kind of relationship that feels real, deeply rooted in trust and understanding.
But beyond the romance, what truly makes Wait for It shine is Diana’s relationship with her nephews, Lou and Josh. Their bond is raw, messy, and full of genuine love. Raising two boys while navigating her own struggles, Diana embodies fierce devotion and warmth in a way that feels so real. Lou, the quiet, thoughtful one, and Josh, the vibrant firecracker, each bring their own moments of laughter and heartbreak, making their dynamic with Diana one of the most touching aspects of the story. It’s the kind of found-family dynamic that lingers in your heart long after the last page.
And beyond the romance, the depth of the side characters—Diana’s nephews, her best friends—adds warmth and richness to the story. There’s humor, heartbreak, and everything in between, making it a book that lingers long after the last page.
If you love slow-burn romance with characters who truly earn their happiness, this book is a must-read. Mariana Zapata is the queen of anticipation, and Wait for It is her crown jewel.

“He looks out the window to check on you every night. I tell him to call you and quit being a stalker, but he thinks I’m going to listen in on his conversations.” She huffed. “I have better things to do with my time.”
what sweet, fun read.
i was bored on a sunday, had been marathoning law and order for days and i suddenly thought: gosh, this is too much suffering already, i think i need a romcom. then, trying to find something lighthearted but still sexy to read, i thought of zapata! her mcs are absolutely surreal, no man is that perfect, lol, but it sure gave me the exact read i was looking for. it was also cool to see characters from some of her other books show up, i love when authors do that.
didn't rate higher because i felt that the kisses and intimate scenes were far less intense than the confessional ondes and that confused me a bit. it's not a problem, but i guess i was slightly waiting to be more involved with them.
all in all, just what the doctor ordered.

The family dynamics got a little bit complex, but in that way it was also realistic. I enjoyed how she just gaslit herself for most of the book about how he didn’t like her.

I might have liked this better than the other Mariana book I’ve read. The patchwork family, over protectiveness, and slow burn did it for me. I really liked this.
