If you're a Whovian, the prospect of stories about things that happen to the Doctor off-screen, or expansions on his personal mythology excite you. With the Doctor Who stories and books, you get a chance to see things impossible for television, either because the effects level is expensive or not practical or because only the most diehard would watch. These 4 stories bridge all of that, and also range over the Doctor's 300+ years defending the town of Christmas on Trenzalore. They suffer from a little bit of potentially non-canon information and rushed pacing, but are otherwise fun tangents for any true fan. Also, at only a little over 200 pages in total, we're talking about a quick read.

3.75, but I rounded up. :)

I was excited to learn more about the Doctor's time on Trenzalore. They were all very typical DW stories, but in the best way. The fourth story was my favorite.
