2...Only due to the fact, I'm not a fan of short stories...I only tuned in to make sure there wasn't any Poirot backstory I missed...Answer is no! Hastings was in one of the few BUT overall they all left me wanting more!
This set of short stories is somewhat cobbled together consisting of Poirot, Miss Marple & Parker Pyne stories. If you are a Christie aficionado, it's an interesting read as some of these stories have the beginnings of other books. However if you are a more casual fan or just getting into Christie, it's a rather disjointed read.

As with previous book like "The Labors of Hercules" these short stories do not do justice to the characters. The stories are just to short for my liking. Of course maybe it was different when they were originally released in the 30s.
Also I never read about Miss Marple and Parker Pyne and I am thinking this book is not the best one to meet these characters.

I din't enjoy this book and I think it's the first time it happens with one of Christie's books. The stories are just too short and I found it difficult to get into them: one moment the story was being told and on the next line the problem was being solved. I'm not a fan of short stories and these were far too short!
A mixed bag of short stories: some Parker Pyne, some Poirot, one Marple, and one spooky. My favorite was How Does Your Garden Grow? -- a Poirot with a clever attempt to hide the murder method.

A mixed bag: some good stories, some dull. I find most of the short stories too hurried and prefer her novels
