“He plays the old, old trick of pretending to go away. He watches Rich go out, then he gains admission, is left alone to write a note, quickly bores those holes and hides inside the chest.”

The Regatta Mystery and Other Stories: Featuring Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, and Mr. Parker Pyne
Agatha Christie

- This part right here reminded me of a movie I watched a long time ago. The plot of the movie was the husband leaving his family when actually he is just in the abandoned house in front of their house watching how his family will be like without him in their lives.

For the second story or the second chapter, I personally believe that the murder plot was awesome. It would really be a good read if this is a novel of the M. Poirot series.

It felt like the fifth chapter deserves an applause at the end of the story. The storyline would look good shown in a television as a movie. My favourite one is the sixth chapter and Miss Marple was adorable in how she told her story.

Only two short stories in this whole thing were worth the read and actually clever. I think Agatha and me are not a match, don't think I will read her again.

This is a collection of short mysteries by Agatha Christie.

Read most of these before but still enjoyable. First time I read a Parker Pyne, interesting.

While I prefer Agatha Christie's longer works, it's sometimes nice just have a sampling. My favorite of the short stories are the ones with Parker Pyne who in one story reluctantly admits that his first name is Christopher. Pyne is the opposite of fastidious and sometimes pompous M. Poirot or the ever congenial Miss Marple. No, he's in his line of work for the money and makes no apologies for it.

A great selection of Dame Agatha's short stories!

In the first couple of stories, I found myself wanting more. I'm so used to reading mysteries that have twists I don't see coming, that it was hard to take this at face value. Once I realized that (and that this was probably the height of suspense when it was published in 1939), I actually really liked the stories. I didn't try to figure them out but just enjoyed listening to the scene and how the mystery played out.
