Writing style was unique and, although a little tricky to get into, added a lot to the dreamy quality of the whole story. I was so fearful that this would have a tragic ending, but the fact that it ended with two women coming to the rescue really healed some part of me. The fact that it seemed so obvious that the 17 year old girl would be victimized, just as is suggested of the bog girls throughout the story, yet it is through a college girl and a midwife that we as the readers are shown just how absurd it all is. Loved it. Hard to put into words how it made me feel.

this was a haunting read that explores violence and bigotry in a very intense and meaningful way, but i unfortunately did not love the writing style. the sentences and paragraphs were very long, and i found the language (northern england dialect i guess?) difficult to understand at times. i did adore molly as a character though, and i was content with the ending

very short read (took me about two hours) and overall just fine in my opinion. I don’t like books written with this style of voice (somewhere between first and third person?) as I find it difficult to engage with the characters meaningfully.
