I know this took me forever and a half to finish, but it's not anything to do with the book. This book was amazing and delightful to read.

Seth has no memory and Kendra is trying hard to save everything and everyone! Knox is also turning into a badass and I love it!

I was heartbroken at Seth's memory loss in the last book. This book focuses on his journey and the choices he makes when he can't remember who he is. There isn't as much focus on the dragons, but I was okay with that.

I received an ARC from netgalley.

This book was a struggle to get through. Either the series is getting repetitive or I am becoming too old to enjoy middle grade adventures.
I loved the Fablehaven series. But this series is just not doing it for me. And this book was so unnecessarily long. Only something substantial happened at the very beginning and towards the end of the book. I just didn’t care for the mini adventures in between. I didn’t like any of the new characters! It honestly felt like kind of a filler book. I am thinking about dropping the series. But with only two books left, I might just get them over with. I am holding out hope that the next one will be better and something big will happen plot wise. Let’s hope I can keep my patience till this series ends.

Knox is so obnoxious, but I loved reading about the new preserve!

I like this book. As I started reading it, though, I had to remind myself that it's a middle grade book, so the language is easy to read and the situations aren't too scary. Brandon Mull does a good job of creating new creatures.

Brandon Mull has done it again! Another fantasy book full of original ideas and exciting adventures. I am enjoying the new world locations and characters that are beautifully portrayed in this series! Definitely going to preorder the next in the series!!

At the end of the last book, Seth willingly gives up his memory to save them to help break a curse and keep an object of great importance away from the dragons. Not long after that, he is kidnapped and Ronodin, a dark unicorn, takes Seth to the Under Realm and says that he is helping to train Seth with his Shadow Charmer powers. Seth and Ronodin perform several missions for the Under King. These missions are actually working against his sister, Kendra, and their mission is to stop the dragons from causing all of the dragon sanctuaries to collapse. This book goes back and forth between what is happening with Seth and the missions that he is taking to further the Under King's cause and Kendra's where she is still trying to save the dragon sanctuaries and also help to save Seth. On one of the missions Kendra and Seth run into each other but what she tells him conflicts with what Ronodin has been telling him and he feels very confused. He isn't sure who he should believe. Can Kendra save her brother and the dragon sanctuaries before they all fall or will working against her own brother be their downfall?
