Not a particularly bad book - not a good book either. Perfectly plain.
This is a completely different story than I would normally pick. I prefer dark stories, emotional stories, challenging stories. But it was recommended by a friend after I said I was looking for something lighthearted.
And lighthearted it was. Don’t get me wrong, I have no issue with romance, but I will say that I suppose I’m rather particular about my romance. I want something left to the imagination. I want yearning and aching - not in the sexual sense. I want longing gazes across the room. I want the slowest of slow burns.
So while I like romance, I don’t love explicit sexual content. I have no problem with sex in stories, however when it is so detailed and basically reads like porn that is just not interesting to me.
So while I was intrigued by Hannah and Garrett’s story, I could have done away with the explicit sex scenes and stuck to just the romance plot.

Garrett + Hannah
hockey player + singer
Easy lovely read. There are heavy topics involved and it's not brushed off, which means there is space for the necessary communication. So much trust, beautiful to see people trust and succumb to each other (something I myself have trouble doing)
Don't like the third act break up, felt a bit unnecessary.
Garrett's abusive father makes Hannah break up with because of money. She does, they spent some time apart, get back together after he turns 21 and has access to trust fund

Idk what it is about hockey but it's hands down the best sport for romances ok, I don't make the rules. Irl I really only like baseball but it just doesn't translate well in books, and there's no fighting so???
Also unrelated, they should start allowing a bit of tussling in baseball. ANYWAY MY POINT IS I actually really liked the MFC and ofc Graham was

Absolutely loved this book. Why do the dads have to be such butt heads tho? I loved Garrett in the book. I like how Hannah and Garrett could openly talk about what was going on with each other. Garrett’s classmates/ hockey friends were so funny when talking to him about Hannah. Loved this book
I read The Campus Diaries series first, so jumping into this book totally shocked me. It opens with Hannah being introduced as an SA victim, and honestly, it completely messed with my head. I was so used to seeing her as the sweet, nurturing mom figure — it took me a few chapters just to adjust. Seeing this different side of her was intense, but also added so much depth to her character.
