“Because it was all you were willing to give me. And I’d rather have you hating me than not have you at all.”
When I picked up this book, what I got was exactly what I was hoping for. The enemies-to-lovers romance, the bickering, the mixed signals, the slow burn? *chef’s kiss*
But then Aaron spoke again, “I’ve never been scared to work for something, Catalina. Even when all odds are against me.”
“It’s like you want me to beg. Is that something you’d enjoy? Me begging?” His voice sounded so … intimate. Hushed. But it was his next words that scattered my thoughts all over the place. “Is that what this is? You like bringing me to my knees?”
“It’s sexy, but don’t ever feel like you need to impress me. I already am.”
It all started when Catalina needed a fake date ASAP to bring to her sister’s wedding. For no other reason that her ex, the one who broke her heart and then stepped on it, was the best man. And so, she is left with no other choice but to bring her annoying coworker who she can’t stand. But, as she gets to know Aaron Balckford and he shows his true colors, Catalina realizes he is not so bad after all. But, is the chemistry worth it? Are the stares, the kisses, the little acts of love that make Catalina swoon for Aaron worth it? To make yourself vulnerable? To willingly give your heart to someone and hope they don’t crush it?
“Life was messy and often hard. It did not wait for anybody to be ready or to expect the bumps on the road.”
“I couldn’t know how or why. Didn’t even have the slightest idea. And wasn’t that part of the mystery of life? Part of what made it breathtakingly exciting? Unexpectedly beautiful? We couldn’t control and tame emotions to our convenience.”
And Aaron, god. Aaron is such a dream

exactly what you'd expect from a romance book but it was well written to keep me reading on :) not a bad first book to be reading after my slump
4/5
kinda uncomfortable with the romantic scene when aaron was waiting for his dad in the hospital.. just feel like it doesn't fit and kinda inappropriate
