This was not my favorite K.S. book. I found it really predictable, and then it ended rather abruptly. I do like the character of Emmy so I'll probably continue to read books in this series.

Another great book by Karin Slaughter. The themes and issues covered are very dark; however, nothing happens on page so it didn't seem gratuitous.
The characters are flawed but I didn't find them to be annoying. The flaws felt more true to life than some books. For me, while technically plot twists, my reaction wasn't "wow, that took a left turn" since it didn't feel like it changed the trajectory of the story or how I thought about the characters / situations.
I feel interested in these characters and am interested in continuing with the series. If you like a darker, tense, plotline and don't mind darker themes, this book could also be for you.
