This book was heartbreaking. It started out a little too slow for me and then enraged me over and over. I will be thinking about this one for a long time.

I love love love this!

There are some tough topics so I would read the trigger warnings before reading. This book goes into how society will take a "star" athlete side over a girl's side. It's never the boy's fault is always well the girls should not have been doing that. Benji is by far by favorite character. I'm excited to see where the series goes after the ending in the book. I did listen to the book on audio; the narrator was perfect for the setting.

Reading this book felt like looking at an X-ray, Backman wrote a story about a town with all the superficial layers peels back to expose the fragile and (usually) ugly things inside us all. Ugly things we’ve done and the ugly things that have been done to us. Backman ice skates all over your heart with the details.

Beartown about Hockey, but it’s mostly about grief in every possible sense. It was so beautiful and well done. My heart! I’m glad there are more books because I’m just not finished with these characters yet.

BECAUSE IM FROM BEARTOWN *sobs*

Not for me. Too many characters. Got confused who was who and lost interest a bit. Writing was great

One of the best books I’ve ever read. The platonic ideal of a work of fiction. I’d give it 10 stars if I could.
