The Imagination Chamber is a beautiful product. It's a gorgeous hardcover with a canvas-y finish, with nice thick pages whose edges have been sprayed red. You might honestly feel spoiled by this thing when you first hold it in your hands, but the disappointment comes as you start reading.

If you've read the sort of 'modern' poetry books written by Rupi Kaur and the like, The Imagination Chamber is basically 85 pages of that but in prose form. ACTUALLY, to Ross' delight, Pullman doesn't write on these pages front and back, so this is actually around 43 pages of Pullman writing short snippets of prose that usually (but not always) feature His Dark Materials or The Book of Dust characters.

I appreciate the reminder that Pullman is a gifted author, but I would've preferred to just have the third Book of Dust novel by now. Or at the very least, this book could've included like a sample chapter. I might've accepted anything more than just the 43 pages of text - some illustrations would've been nice?

Now, I grabbed The Imagination Chamber off my local Amazon for less than the price of a Big Mac combo, so I'm not too pressed about the slightness of the content. But this ish has an MSRP of £13??? C'mon, you guys.

All in all, this is nice and everything, but may I have The Book of Dust 3 pls?

Half the book being empty leaves a bad taste in my mouth but the world has a chokehold on me.

Cute little insights but that’s about it.

This is not a story, but rather bits and pieces of the lives and musings of the characters from The Golden Compass series. Interesting tidbits for fans of the series.

The Imagination Chamber is a collection of snippets of Phillip Pullman's writing from the His Dark Materials series.

This book is for fans of His Dark Materials only, each page is sparce except for a paragraph or two. Even though the physical writing is limited the weight of the words did fill up the page for me. This book is one to savour, it is beautiful itself and although it sits at under a hundred pages after each page I felt like I had something to ruminate.

However this book does not add much to the world or the story, even though I enjoyed it I could see a lot of readers not getting much out of this book - a good one to borrow from the library perhaps.

The book is beautiful. One of the nicest binding I've seen, red colored cut, pages crafted from thick paper.

Unfortunately, the content is thin. It took me less than 30min to read. I don't know what I expected, I guess some sort of continuation or addition to Lyra's story.

What this is, though, is a collection of short (as in 4 lines to half a page) paragraphs that relate to the universe of HDM. I didn't think they add much and honestly am not sure who needs this book.
