Found this collection in "House of Books and Friends" in Manchester (side note-would highly recommend a visit to this indie bookshop) as it was recommended by the booksellers and a science fiction story by Steven Moffat- sold!
It was a good collection of science fiction, ranging from 'lite' to 'heavy' science within the stories, with each story having a non-fiction commentary from a scientist in the field the story is loosely based on.
The focus is around particle physics with many location settings based at CERN in France/Switzerland border. I did enjoy delving into physics and the many topics of research being investigated at CERN, but many parts of the collection did go over my head. As I havn't studied physics for 10+ years I think most of the non-fiction was slightly lost on me, but it didn't damper my enjoyment of the stories.
With every collection, I didn't enjoy ever story, but did like the majority. I would recommend for anyone interested in science fiction as a genre and/or science non-fiction.

It's am anthology so the categories don't really apply to the book as a whole.

Some stories are good but a lot get tedious as they spend a lot of time on physics, sometimes accurate, often fabricated, while not as much on plot or characters.

The book can't decide if it's science or science fiction,  to the detriment of both.

Disappointed.
