In the first book Crane was like, "I can't wait to leave Piper and go back to London where everything is great." In A Case of Possession, they have been living in London for a few months, and surprise surprise, it is not perfect. They are together, which is good, but there are a lot of hurdles to overcome which is satisfying. There are a lot of new characters, only a few of whom had been mentioned in the first book. Like the first book, it is short (a novella and then a short story (A Case of Spirits), but I was astounded by how much plot fit into two hundred some pages. There is significantly more sex in this one than in book 1.

I continue to love the narrator, but I got a bit lost with this one. It was a little hard to follow and confusing with how many characters kept getting added.

I'm still astounded that I enjoy this series, as it's *really* steamy, in graphic detail, and even has some now emotional undertones as well in book two. I usually avoid romance wherever I can, but these characters and stories are so amazing, I love the books anyway.
Don't get me wrong, I would not miss the sex scenes if they instead were just fade to black, but they are so well written, they also don't make me roll my eyes and want to throw the book out the window. So even though it's not a part of the book that hooks me, absolute kudos for KJ Charles being one of the not even a handful of authors who manage to produce steam I don't find cringe worthy!

Another mystery, plenty more dead bodies, blackmail, suspicion, unexplained magic and a lot of adventure make for another fast paced story! Meanwhile the characters, the world around them, new friends and colleagues give more depth and round of a great tale that had me on the edge of my seat.

4.5. Going back into Stephen and Crane's world again was so fun, I love them. I think the pacing of this novelette and the series as a whole is really well done. Loving it so far! Also, KJ Charles writes amazing horror, which I didn't expect, but certainly wasn't mad about.
