Sorry, I read this in a day but then was on vacation and forgot to update my Goodreads account. ANYWAY - a really sweet love letter to fandom, queer teens, and what it means to be "strong." The nonbinary rep here was played out really solidly, and of course the HEA felt like such a charming payoff! The only reason it's a 4 for me is because things with both MC's families felt... both unfinished and not fleshed out enough, so when those families did come up it felt jarring. But I really recommend this!

Will write a proper review once St Martin’s Press responds to the demands of the boycott!

Despite Miss North Carolina's best efforts, this was a cute book! However, I was not a fan of the Red Bull drinking which merited not one, but two mentions in the book.

Fandoms in a con setting work for me so well. The shorter format also helped me out especially with with a meet-cute.

I received an ecopy of this book through Netgalley; however, my opinions are my own.

this was a sweet book! i’ve been a member of fandom for most of my life and it’s wonderful to see myself in a book, on both sides of their story. living in a situation where you can’t be true to yourself or are struggling to make sense of your identity is always difficult but our found family gets us through it. ❤️

A Sherlock Fandom? Say less.
I have to say, I fell in love with Kaylee and Teagan and their meet cute way of falling for each other. This book tells the story of a non-binary fanfic writer and a closeted geek / beauty pageant star and how they meet. It’s filled with drama, miscommunication (of course) and just loving who and what you love because life is to short otherwise! It’s full of positive feelings and vibes, but isn’t going to be for everyone. I feel like its definitely a book for someone who is a geek, has a fandom that they love to the point of going to a convention or someone discovering their sexuality and gender identity. I must say, a good read and I’m glad that there are two strong, independent characters in their own right that aren’t all about the other person - they both have their own storylines and their challenges which they overcome.

This book was really cute, had a very cool plot and some solid LGBT+ representation. But I think it was a bit too YA for me. The whole fandom/fanfic thing got a little overwhelmingly cringe for me; this was something I would have LOVED when I was 14 or even 16. But at 22 this just wasn’t for me. It was a fine read though.
