This is a book where you escape into, this year and day and hour and second the ideal one. I do quibble about how it’s very clear that there is a male author writing a female protagonist. She’s the only competent woman in the whole book. Overall it’s a fun read.

I loved this book. It was truly amazing!!! I could not put it down!

This book is genius! There is a lot of reference and not only literary ones, for example there one on Buffy the Vampire slayer. But to name some of the reference there's Shakespeare, Orwell, Marlowe, Dickens etc... But you still can read it without grasping all of them, generally they are easy to see.

Other than that the plot is interesting, it's the first book I read that deals with literature as an every day thing. It shows how important a book can be in someone's life.

Really I loved Literatech! And Thursday is a great character, she is not like all female models. And she has a dodo pet! Who can say no to a dodo pet!(I am so jealous). She has a very special sense of humor, very active, very intelligent and strong.

Seriously, it's a great fiction book, the universe jasper Fforde created in this book is amazing! I hope the next book will be as great!

Just because I love this passage:

"I have a lot of hobbies."
"Name one"
"Painting"
"Really?"
"Yes, really, I'm currently painting a seascape."
"How long has it taken you so far?"
"About seven years."
"It must be very good."
"It's a peace of crap."

This book had an interesting premise but it felt to me that there were too many world-building concepts that it wanted to convey in too short of a space. As a result, it was a little clunky and took a long time to get going. Once it did, though, this was an enjoyable read.

I'm not in a rush to go and pick up another book in this series, but if one fell in my lap I wouldn't mind reading it. I'd like to see if the story mechanics smooth out as Fforde's writing matures.

Interesting premise but not very engaging. Shallow characters.
