hopeful lighthearted reflective

Oh I really loved this one - Clare Pooley’s characters are ordinary yet you can’t help but fall in love with them. I read this in one sitting and it felt like a warm hug!

Easy to read, low stakes, lighthearted and wholesome book club pick. It was surprisingly diverse but also predictable, contrived, twee and full of stereotypes. I was bored by the first half but the second was better. Including a 15 year old girl was dubious, it made for some creepy scenarios. The character could easily have been 17/18. I wasn't convinced by the anchor of the story either, seemed like an interfering nosy cow to me!

I love their found family. We are all needed, and connecting to others gives us purpose and makes life so much better. Also, it’s never too late to reinvent yourself.
