read it out of necessity but i may go back to get some of the good quotes

Read this book for the first time in ninth grade. At the time, I thought it was a very funny book about how stupid other teenagers (who were not as smart as me) were, and I went to the library so I could get more Shakespeare because I really enjoyed his work.
The second time I read this book was this year, preparing to teach it to a ninth grade class. I took away a very different message. This play is a love story, actually- about the love between parents and children, and how blind hatred for others can destroy it. I see why this is one of Shakespeare's most popular plays.
It is also still very funny, though.

One of Shakespeare’a most famous plays, although not my favorite.

so good!!

Teenagers meet, instantly fall in a love so magnificent it outshines all things, and then have a dramatic suicidal ending when one fails at basic things like checking for a heartbeat, and the other can’t possibly conceive of a life without a guy she’s known for FOUR days!! Four. And she’s 13! Thirteen.

Epic love story not so much.
