Yeah, this one just doesn’t do it for me compared to some of the other plays I’ve read thus far. I get why it’s important to have teenagers read this (learn impulse control), and there is some flowery romantic language we’ve all heard a thousand times at this point, but as far as tragedies go, this feels like the tragedy was somewhat bad decisions and a lot of deus ex machina “oh yeah, I didn’t get to send the letter because plague” in Act 5. Friar Lawrence is the real villain in this story.

It’s still better than Titus Andronicus, but I know Shakespeare wrote better tragedies than this.

i thought it was super boring, like whyyy so dramatic???? the rest of the dramatic plays i have read arent not even a quarter of dramatic as this one omgggg

this was a reread and i def continue having the same opinion, not worth reading, just watch one of the 100 films that gave been made and you are good
