This is basically extremely sincerely what I'd want from a eldritch horror story. I do wish there were more Black characters and Characters of Color though. Or does the eldritch gods only target white people? Idk...
The mythology is pretty interesting and thankfully bare bones. If it went on excessively I think it'd cheapen it. I give credit to the author for knowing when to stop in an eldritch horror story. Um I loved this. cant wait to read the rest of her works omg. Piper you bad mother somethinger, you've done it again!!
The prose is fantastic. Purple as eldritch genre needs to be, but not to the point of escaping up its own ass about it. The descriptions of the monsters was chefs kiss, very creepy and dreadful.

When Monique's girlfriend is taken from the place they are staying at, Donna knows she will do anything to get her back. What she doesn't know is she is about to be brought into a worm-worshiping cult. What Monique does will have effects that ripple through all of time and creation...
I enjoyed the plot of this book and thought it was very interesting to read. I liked to watch the MC's struggles and triumphs and go through this journey with her. I do wish I had been able to learn more about the characters, but since this was a very short book, that's okay!
This did take me a little while to get into, which was unfortunate considering it was very short. This meant that it took me over a quarter of the book to really be enjoying it. I do think once it picks up, it goes by fast!
Graphic: Blood, Chronic illness, Gore, Grief, Medical trauma, Transphobia, and Violence
Moderate: Kidnapping
Homelessness, starvation, poverty
