Jax Cassidy works for an organization known as L.O.S.T. otherwise known as Last Option Special Team. Jax has been assigned the task of taking out and eliminating Senator Joseph Lazarus. To get to Senator Lazarus, she will first have to go through Marcus Cross.

Marcus Cross is a trained sniper, who used to be Special Ops. Marcus was left for dead n the desert but was given a second change at a new life, when he met Lazarus. Lazarus is a very powerful vampire and Marcus’s maker. Lazarus heads up a group called The Solution. The Solution’s mission is to run the White House.

Jax knows she has this task under control. Though, she never expected to experience such strong feelings towards Marcus.

Enemy Lover is dark, sensual, and a sin to read…it is so good! The way Jax and Marcus interacted with each other was like a hot, salsa dance. Jax is one strong woman, who is not afraid to kick some butt. My only issue is that she seemed to fall for Marcus pretty quickly. Of course, though I can’t blame her as he is easy on the eyes. This book packed quite a punch. The vampires in this book were more like humans. This is a quick read.

Enemy Lover falls more into the urban fantasy category. So if you like more kick in your books, then you should check out this book. Enemy Lover will make you want one of your own. Karin Harlow has no where to go but up!

I'm so glad I won a copy of [b:Enemy Mine|458319|Enemy Mine|Kay Hooper|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1309209403s/458319.jpg|816543]. I'm not sure I would have discovered this author otherwise.

What a great opening book for a series! It reminds me of an edgier B.A.D. series by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

L.O.S.T. is an off-the-grid, super-secret team of special ops. The mysterious Mr. Black, aka Godfather leads a group of men with devastating back grounds that they've overcome to fight the good fight. Godfather has decided to bring in a woman to the organization . . . Angela is extracted in a spectacular opening sequence, and is given a new identity . . . Jax Cassidy . . . and intense training to overcome her personal demons and become a kick-ass agent.

Marcus Cross is a special ops sniper who was "turned" by Lazarus in Afghanistan. He is now a top operative for "The Solution", a shady organization who removes perceived threats to the USA. The group is funded by a Senator who decides Lazarus is becoming fanatical. The Senator shuts down funding and cuts all ties with the group. Things get extremely bad for the Senator, and he calls in L.O.S.T. to eliminate Lazarus and The Solution.

What a wild ride this book was! I see great things in store for this team.

This is one of the best adult paranormal books I have read in a LONG time. OMG! I am sorry but when I am excited about something I don't articulate myself very well and boy am I excited! Let's hope I can explain my new found love for Karin Harlow!

So...lets start with a strong spitfire of a heroine, one who faces the worst life has to offer and comes out on the better side. Then...add a dangerously sexy vampire who is looking for his mortal side. Slap them together add political intrigue and secret government agencies and you have this book in a nut shell.

The heroine is strong, one of the strongest ones I have read about and wasn't turned off by her over exaggerated strength. The author has no problem torturing her characters and she certainly shoves everything bad in life at Jax and then rewards her with everything that can be good. The hero is also equally strong and as unmoving as Jax but he has a soft side as well and he has his own code, I can respect that in a man. It also doesn't hurt that their bedroom activities ignite to crazy heights, oh yes, you know what I mean.

The plot. OMG, the plot. *deep breathe* The plot is perfect, I was hooked from page one that I started at about one in the morning all the way to the last page at about six in the morning. I can't even explain the book well right now with all the sleep deprivation, it's like a female Jason Bourne crossed with a white Blade and then shoved into a freaking Mission Impossible movie. Gah, anyway the entire book is hot, exciting, and amazing.

If you were ever only going to be able to read one book that I recommend it would be this one! You HAVE TO GET IT NOW! I can't wait until everyone in the world reads this book and then understand the awesomeness and then can gush about it with me! *deep breathe* *sigh*

Hold on to your seat (and your book) because Karin Harlow’s Enemy Lover will take you on one wild ride! Fans of mystery, suspense and paranormal will enjoy this series debut novel!

The only thing Angela Giacomelli has to look forward to is a small cell in prison. What she doesn’t know is that she has been selected to be a part of a special elite team known as L.O.S.T. It’s an organization that gives trusted and talented people like Angela a second chance, a band of misfits, all with their own baggage. Frustrated, but seeing no other way out of prison, she accepts their offer.

With this opportunity, Angela Giacomelli dies and Jax Cassidy is born.

L.O.S.T. exists to protect the country by completing missions the government cannot or will not see through. There wasn’t a mission Jax could not complete...until she was ordered to bring down The Solution, a rogue organization and one of it’s most powerful members, Marcus Cross. Jax and Marcus worked for the security of America...just on different teams. They cannot trust each other, no matter what kind of attraction they feel towards one another. Marcus is unprepared for the fireball known as Jax Cassidy. While on the other hand, Jax is completely unprepared for the fact that Marcus...well, he’s a vampire.

You will either love or hate Jax. She is certainly a character full of spunk and attitude with a backbone made of steel, she refuses to back down from anyone. While on the outside she appears to have total control, on the inside events from her past have made her fragile and broken. Jax is conscious of her weaknesses and realizes she stands on a very fine line that could brake her completely. Her attraction and sympathy for Marcus is a pill she finds very hard to swallow. Willing to risk everything to complete the mission, Jax is sure she will be successful, she just doesn’t know if she will make is out with her heart in one piece.

Marcus is far from perfect but that is probably what makes him so attractive. Being a vampire for so long has caused him to loose some of his humanity. His version of right and wrong is being clouded by his desire to please his maker Lazarus. Marcus is still a soldier at heart, ready and willing to follow orders. He is dedicated with a strong sense of loyalty, always prepared to do what is necessary for the good guys. The dormant side of him emotions comes to life after meeting Jax. She is the sunlight to his darkness and gives meaning to his lifeless existence.

Jax and Marcus are two sides of the same coin. Harlow begins the story painting them as unlovable wounded creatures. Yet as the book progresses, you realize they are so similar, so alike and so stubborn they are becoming two halves of the same whole. They grew up learning to live life by depending on no one but themselves so it’s hard to see how much they need each other.

She didn’t know why it was him, a tortured and immortal soul, who’d given her back what she had lost so long ago - her hope, her willingness to open her heart again and to trust another being with it.

They were doomed, she knew it. He was dead and she was alive.

Still, it was perfect.

Overall, Enemy Lover was a satisfying read. It has suspense, intrigue, romance and everything you could possibly want from a novel. This is an amazing debut for Harlow’s L.O.S.T. series. It wraps up all the details for both main characters and makes you eager to read the next installment. This novel is a story about second chances. Marcus was saved from death to start a new life as a vampire. Jax has a new team of operatives at her back and a future that doesn’t include prison. After everything both of them have been through, is it possible a second chance at life may also have a ‘happily ever after?’

Overall Rating: 4/5
Heat Level: 4/5
