This book was fine I guess? Just another basic romance revolving around hockey. I was surprised it ended when it did, like I just figured there'd be more to it but I guess it's a short book. But like, Colt has so much unresolved shit around his dad still??? He did so much to help Ash but the boy needs to heal too!

This book did the thing I hate where it's a mediocre book but did a good enough job teasing the next couple in the series that now I want to read the next one.

🎧 I really liked both narrators, and they aren't names I'm familiar with already, so that's nice to have new ones to look for.

🌶️ 3.5/5 Open door, several sexy scenes, nothing groundbreaking.

I finished this book in 1-2 sittings. It was a little cheesy, but well written. The conversations and reflections of the characters felt authentic. I may have felt called out by some of the advice given lol.

Fast pace and fast burning romance, with a dash of unrealistic. Although, college romances can move quickly.

There were around 3 shorter sex scenes. The majority of the spiciness was in the build up and desires expressed through dual pov.

Loved the mmc. Fmc was a little too exaggerated in her naivety, but the trust issues and core belief issues were handled well.

Overall, very cute and definitely recommend for a healing romance read.

4.5

Hockey Romance. Fast-paced. Great tension. Best-Friend’s Ex-ish. Jock and Tutor. Hidden Relationship-ish. Knight-in-Shining-Armor.
3 🌶️s: a couple of descriptive sex scenes, moderately detailed.

I loved the tension between Colt and Ashlyn. I loved their back and forth retorts and the initial push-pull.
I loved Colt. I loved how he was so adamant in his feelings from the get-go. I loved that he called her “Sunshine,” and I loved his knightly actions.

Its refreshing to have a “best friends ex,” trope without overly dramatized push-pull.

I do wish there was a bit more hockey in this hockey romance but hopefully the rest of the series will include more.

Most characters are lovable, but I did deduct .5 since nearly all of the characters knew their friends’ major issues (cheating and briefly mentioned domestic abuse) and it was all so easily excused or ignored. It was a bit disappointing, especially when a few of those characters are so protective of others — I’m looking at you Theo.

4.25 Stars. It was really good. I loved their connection from the beginning. I absolutely hate the cheating trope. I hated Logan and was happy towards the end when he got what was coming to him. I was also shocked when he stood up to her parents but I'm happy they stepped up for her too. Should have happened sooner! Can't wait to read Blakely's book :)

I definitely got hooked into trying this from a Facebook reel but honestly, I’m not mad about it. It was great picking up a straight contemporary book that wasn’t too dark or had all the mafia elements I tend to read. I really enjoyed Colt as a lead thought he brought this amazingly healthy relationship to Ash when she needed it most. I kind of got frustrated with her at times but I can also see where she was coming from. Logan was such an ass and he me rolling my eyes within the first couple of chapter. I think this touched on some important topics but at the same time, I don’t feel fully connected with the characters to keep wanting to read the series.  Plus I don’t think this story with be too memorable for me.
