Okay this was just what I needed. The right mix of vengeance and smut to get me out of a reading slump
objectively this is probably a 5 star read
BUT i was ill prepared for the dom/sub dynamics..i’m usually not into the girl being the dom but i love how it turned out in the scene where she made him beg
BUT THEN she pegged him in the epilogue and i was shook..like good for her and him and them together but that’s not my cup of tea
loved the inclusivity in the writing, love her taking the time to just exist after shit went down, love the complex nature of her relationship with the best friend, love her working through her trauma in a way that seems quite relatable and i wish it were legal
i was a bit confused about his circumstances though and i wish they were explained more in depth..also do demons just live normal human lifespans???

the tw was a MAJOR understatement. This is incredibly descriptive in its flashbacks, and while it did impact my reading experience, that doesn't make this *bad* it just wasn't for me

-creative, fun premise (revenge!!! demon summoning!!!! love!!!)
-cute how obsessed w the heroine the hero was
-set in Nigeria, which is neat
-mostly POC cast
-pegging??????
cons:
-needs more editing...this book uses the word "fuck" or "fucking" a total of 324 times in 196 pages and I'm sorry but that is TOO MUCH. the writing felt like a first draft. very close to being great with some tightening up.
-a little repetitive, which is weird bc it was so short
-bc it was so short there wasn't much time to flesh out the world and the "rules" of demon summoning, which made it kind of confusing. there were also little B and C plots wedged in but they sort of felt irrelevant to the story...it just all needed more fleshing out in my opinion
