I don't think I can really rate this fairly- the revenge aspect of the story was a really solid driving force and captured that vicious satisfaction in seeing someone get their just desserts, but the relationship dynamic between Malachi and Joy just really wasn't my thing.
There's a lot to like here (her Aunt is great) but I should have read a few more reviews, it's very very dark in places and I was expecting something a bit sweeter?

I mean... If Malachi [demon sir] showed up in my living room, I WOULD NOT COMPLAIN.
Friends, this was delicious. I wish there was more "plot" especially some more backstory into Malachii - he was fucking fascinating. But, alas, sweet vengeance indeed! I also thoroughly enjoyed why Joy did what she did.
3.75 stars.

I adored this book. Joy was such a, well, Joy to read, and Malachi is just the absolute sweetest.
As someone in a similar position as Joy was at the beginning of the book, I was worried it might be a little too heavy for me to read, but I love how the author didn’t give a name to *him*, and never had Joy express remorse or guilt over doing what she needed to do. (I did have to skim some of the flashback scenes, but I don’t think I missed anything critical.)
I ate up the spicy scenes, wow. I loved seeing Joy reclaim her sexuality, and what a fun time to have the human be more dominant in bed than the demon!
This book was fun, hot, and incredibly cathartic. Definitely check the trigger warnings if you’re worried, though!

Finally finished!
Saying the Lord’s name in vain throughout the book while having sex was cringy to me, but that’s just me

Sweet Vengeance is dark and you guessed it Delicious! (Pun intended) Viano absolutely killed this! (Again pun intended)
This is the story of Joy, a woman who has been robbed of her namesake and now seeks revenge. She decides to take matters into her own hands by summoning the charming demon that is Malachi. With nothing else to offer up she willingly agrees to submit her body but not her soul. Little does she know, he will take whatever she has to give but deep down he desires it all!
Be warned there is graphic on page scenes related to rape and murder that may be triggering to readers. Please take care of your mental health while reading.
This book far surpassed my expectations so much so that I wished it was a little longer. The ending felt rushed, like the author just wanted to get to the happily ever after. Personally I would have liked to be j the room when Joy and Malakai sat down for dinner with Aunt Paloma and Klaus. I bet that was a treat! However i can’t complain too much because that epilogue!!!!! Baby that was the cherry on top of the cake for me.

I don't often read revenge stories, and I was unprepared for how focused this story was going to be on FMC Joy getting her revenge - and why she needed to get it. I'd definitely recommend giving the trigger warnings a good look over before reading this story - this is much more than a monster smut story (it is that as well though!). I really liked how unapologetic Joy is in her quest for revenge. She tried being the bigger person, it didn't work for her and so now she's going to take back the control she lost. I loved that for her, and how it reflected in her relationship with MMC demon Malachi.
I love love loved Malachi. He was so supportive and focused Joy and her needs. He was also a really complete character with his own little story arc outside of Joy's quest for revenge, which just made me like him more. Truly the gold standard of MMCs.

Now THIS is my kind of dark romance. Tens across the board. Very well written, the plot and the spice are all done exceptionally.
Also - really love how the author centers a fat main character and use of the word fat instead of soft, curvy, etc. Loved the use of gender neutral pronouns until each character shared their preferred pronouns.
I LOVE that this author is Nigerian, that this story is set in Nigeria, & doesn’t shy away from exploring these themes in the Nigerian context. If you’re familiar with Nigerian popular culture, then you know what I mean.
