This was selected for a Patron readalong and I think I ended up as the only one who both finished and enjoyed the book. Fair warning, please read the content warnings at either the beginning of the book (Kindle readers jump past this when opening the file) or on the website … this is an incredibly heavy and violent book. I feel like the author did well to balance those instances with the plot and characters’ motivations and development. The use of summoning a vengeance demon to kill one’s rapist was a perfectly logical hypothetical on which to build a speculative romance. Even better when that demon has their own baggage … thrice better when they realize that each other can love and support the other. If you can read about the topics, it is a sensual and satisfying ride.
