The catchy cover probably will trick a few people into starting this book. However, it is not a quick and easy self-help book, but rather a philosophical wandering into the human relationship with and fear of time.

Overall, I am convinced of Burkeman's main hypothesis. We spend a lot of our lives distracting ourselves to avoid discomfort. We need embrace the inherent uncertainty that always exists, because trying to control time only causes us more grief. Acceptance of uncertainty will ultimately lead us to a more sane and fulfilling life.

Another strong reason to step back from addictive (and exploitive) social media platforms!

I loved this book and will be thinking about it for a long time. It encapsulates so many thoughts I've had before about time, life, mortality and how we spend our days. So many good nuggets about distraction and being more patient and present. But also reminded me of essentialism in that you can only do so much and that's okay. I think I'm gonna find myself rereading this one every year or two. I really appreciated his brevity, writing style, and takeaways about anxiety and control.

Cannot wrap my head around why people loved this book so much (if you’re one of them, please explain!). I wanted to give up around page 75, but pushed through the whole book and I wish I hadn’t. Very little of this book resonated with me.

4! Great text about time and our anxieties around it. Didn’t read like a self help book but rather as an overview of philosophical approaches to time conveyed in an accessible way.
