Going to be added to my all time favorite self-help books (along with Atomic Habits and Anxious Generation). I have tremendously loved this book. The style, anecdotes, references, and humor spoke to me. This is an anti-productivity approach to time management.
Instead the anecdotes and introspective questions help one to focus on:
—what anxieties or fears are we avoiding by over scheduling and being always busy
—what are you missing by being always busy
—are you allowing life and others to dictate how you spend your time— spend your life away
—several efficiency time techniques are reminiscent of industrial factory pattern and efficiency techniques
—you are not a machine, what dreams of the happier future you could you be living now and feeling fulfilled
…And so much more!
Short book that packs a punch! Will definitely re-visit and re-read again.
Word of caution: Moms with littles, there is occasional swearing.

Plenty to take away from this book, but it was very ethereal. Hard to bring it into practice and the book only glanced at the implementation.
Burkeman delivers a new way to think about time management and the proliferation of self-help literature in this modern era. Though the theme of the book can become almost too redundant at times, Four Thousand Weeks manages to flip the script on many of our common thought processes. The last chapter in particular offers helpful tips on how to live a life with mortality in mind without completely abandoning responsibilities. However, even those may not work for you because, as this book so eloquently concludes, one person's answers may not be yours...it is your life's work to find your own answers.
